The retreat center is adjacent to Volcanoes National Park where dramatic cliffs provide for close-up views of turtles and dolphins. Add to this Brynn's energetic morning vinyasa flow practices and her evening restorative sessions accompanied with live music from renowned cellist Steve Velez, and all the elements are present for an amazing pilgrimage of restoration and renewal.

TYPICAL RETREAT DAY:

- Awaken in the morning to the sweet smell of tropical flowers, and walk through a pathway of lush foliage to arrive at the dining area where a bountiful selection of wholesome breakfast foods await you.

- Stroll to our yoga room where you will meet with a loving sangha (community) of yogis for an energizing and inspiring 2-hour morning yoga class to awaken your body and spirit.

- Nourish your body with a delicious lunch on the open-air lanai (veranda), poolside, or at the nearby beach.

- During the next few hours, you may choose to stay on the grounds and float in the heated Watsu pool, strike up a game of volleyball at the outdoors courts, nap in the sun, swim in the 25-meter pool, read that book you have been meaning to read, or treat yourself with phenomenal massage and body work.  Perhaps you will decide to participate in one of the weekly activities offered at Kalani, such as: hula lessons, Lauhala weaving classes, Tai Chi, meditation or pilates.  Or maybe this will be the afternoon that we have our Thai yoga-massage workshop!  The more adventurous may take a trip to the Wai'Opae tide pools to go snorkeling, explore the black sand beaches, hike through Green Mountain, or visit Hawaii's famous Volcanoes National Park to experience Kilauea (the world's most active volcano), where lava flows into the sea.

- We will reconvene at our yoga room for the evening yoga session, complete with LIVE MUSIC from renowned cellist Steve Velez and Gong Master Lee Kix.  During our long, sweet savasana, you will truly feel that you have "no where else to be; nothing else to do" and will arise feeling physically and spiritually nurtured.

- A well-deserved Hawaiian feast will await you after class complete with local fruits, vegetables, and fresh-caught fish for you to enjoy while conversing with new friends.

- After dinner, retire to the jacuzzi or sauna, play a game, or perhaps watch a live hula performance (we will be on the Big Island during the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival). Finally, feeling relaxed, satiated, and completely at peace, you’ll settle down for a sound night's sleep.

Testimonials

"Brynn is not as much a guide as she is a reference. Rather than set forth her path for you to follow, she offers a map to allow you to find your choice of destination and route. She has such a broad passion for yoga that her students are exposed to all that yoga has to offer whether that be in regard to styles of yoga, forms of practices and poses, or the spiritual aspects of yoga. Yoga can be anything from stretching exercises to a restorative meditation to a way of life. Brynn is a teacher in the most classical sense in that she has the depth of knowledge and humility to facilitate getting from yoga that which each student needs and wants. It is a privilege every time. I am able to practice with her." ~ Kogan Bao
