SUN SALUTATION & VINYASA Workshop with Brynn

This workshop series is geared towards serious students and teachers of yoga looking to refine and deepen their awareness of the movement principles and proper alignment in the most common poses of vinyasa flow yoga, namely “the vinyasa” and Sun Salutations. Breathing techniques and bandha practice will be explored in detail as will the anatomy of the spine, feet and shoulders. We will practice seated meditation as well as Yin and Restorative Yoga and discuss how to relax deeply. The first chapter of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras will be investigated, and the principles will be related to the lifestyle and ethics of a modern day yogi both on and off the mat.
Minimum 1 year of regular yoga practice recommended. Worth 12 hours of Continuing Education through Yoga Alliance. Class capped at 12 students. Cost is $325 for the entire weekend ($275 for True FLOW Yoga TT grads).
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- Healthy, sound alignment and muscular engagement in all poses involved in Sun Salutation A, B, and C (Tadasana, Chaturanga, Upward Dog, Downward Dog, Warrior 1, Chair, High and Low Lunges)
- Anatomy of the spine, shoulders, and feet as they relate to yoga asana
- Principles, benefits, and practice of several types of breathing (Ujjayi, Nadi Shodana, Kapalabhati, Viloma, Durga)
- How to engage and use bandhas during practice
- Using ujjayi breath effectively during asana practice (flowing with breath)
- Philosophy from Chapter 1 of the Yoga Sutras
o Fluctuations of the mind (citta vrittis)
o Strategies for stilling the mind
o Abhyasa (strong effort) and Vairagya (non-reactivity) as it relates to yoga both on and off the mat
- Metta Meditation & the 4 perfections of the mind
- Yin & Restorative Yoga practice and how to relax deeply
BRYNN’S Weekly classes
My teaching style is influenced by over two decades of studying with master yoga and meditation teachers from a variety of traditions (Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa Flow, Viniyoga, Yin, Restorative, Shadow, Power, Bhakti, Insight Meditation) as well as my background in science, philosophy, psychology, and sociology. Through many years of teaching, I have come to embody my own voice and style that blends anatomical precision, philosophical eloquence, and spiritual curiosity. My alignment-based vinyasa flow style synchronizes breath with movement, drawing practitioners’ awareness into one-pointed focus, while consciously selected themes and intentions infuse each practice with meaning. I explore new topics and methods in my classes regularly in order to de-mystify the practice of yoga. Guided into ease, students can effortlessly challenge their boundaries and leave with a renewed feeling of invigoration, awareness, and belonging.

Brynn’s private lessons provide a setting in which your individual needs and concerns can be more fully addressed. Lessons are specifically designed to meet your personal needs and taught at a pace appropriate to your level of experience. This greater attention to detail allows newer students to establish correct alignment and learn the proper use of props, while more experienced practitioners will benefit by deepening their existing knowledge. A session can be a vigorous general practice, a lesson designed to heal or strengthen a specific injury, a restorative practice to soothe the nerves, or any number of other possibilities.
