A Workshop for Serious Students and Teachers of Yoga

This workshop series is geared towards serious students and teachers of yoga looking to refine and deepen their awareness of healthy movement principles in backbends and inversions. Together we will discuss the energetic and emotional body and practice trusting deeply and overcoming fears related to backbends and inversions. We will discuss the common areas where deep tension patterns exist in the body and practice using Yin Yoga as a form of therapy for releasing blockages. Restorative Yoga will be discussed and practiced as a method of helping students to relieve stress, relax deeply, and ultimately restore the body on a physiological level. Breathing techniques and meditation practice will be explored. The principles of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras will be investigated and related to the lifestyle and ethics of modern day yogis both on and off the mat with particular attention paid to the state of absolute freedom described in Chapter 4.
Minimum one year regular yoga practice recommended. Worth 12 hours of Continuing Education through Yoga Alliance. Class capped at 12 students. $325 for the weekend ($275 discounted rate for graduates of True FLOW Yoga Teacher Training)

My teaching style is influenced by over two decades of studying with master yoga and meditation teachers from a variety of traditions (Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa Flow, Viniyoga, Yin, Restorative, Shadow, Power, Bhakti, Insight Meditation) as well as my background in science, philosophy, psychology, and sociology. Through many years of teaching, I have come to embody my own voice and style that blends anatomical precision, philosophical eloquence, and spiritual curiosity. My alignment-based vinyasa flow style synchronizes breath with movement, drawing practitioners’ awareness into one-pointed focus, while consciously selected themes and intentions infuse each practice with meaning. I explore new topics and methods in my classes regularly in order to de-mystify the practice of yoga. Guided into ease, students can effortlessly challenge their boundaries and leave with a renewed feeling of invigoration, awareness, and belonging.

Private lessons provide a setting in which your individual needs and concerns can be more fully addressed. Lessons are specifically designed to meet your personal needs and taught at a pace appropriate to your level of experience. This greater attention to detail allows newer students to establish correct alignment and learn the proper use of props, while more experienced practitioners will benefit by deepening their existing knowledge. A session can be a vigorous general practice, a lesson designed to heal or strengthen a specific injury, a restorative practice to soothe the nerves, or any number of other possibilities.

All lessons include an initial consultation (by phone or email) to determine the students' goals, experiences, and injuries. Lessons are held at True FLOW Yoga headquarters located at 3848 Campus Dr., Ste. #114 in Newport Beach.
